In the fall of 2013, I joined a new marketing communications team at the Office of Admissions at Colorado State University. Unsatisfied with the idea of simply updating dates, photos, and quotes in current materials, our team took on the ambitious task of completely overhauling CSU’s print, web, and email communications with admitted students. As a team we refined CSU’s position in the market and developed the “Find Your State” campaign. As the Assistant Director of Communications, I took the lead on copywriting, email strategy, and mailings. I also supported my colleagues with web content, web page design, and social media campaigns, including the live-streamed RamChat Q&A series.
Find Your State
The Find Your State campaign aimed to capture what students loved most about Colorado State University - a welcoming and innovative campus, a plethora of academic options, and opportunities for hands-on learning in the community and around the world.
Role: brand strategy, messaging, copywriting, coordination of distribution
Email Campaigns
Drip email campaigns were redesigned to echo the messaging, voice, and tone of the Find Your State publications. Email campaigns were built around students’ interests, campus events, and admissions processes.
Role: writing, HTML email design, CRM campaign management
Web Content
The new Admissions website launched in September 2014 with a modern aesthetic echoing design elements found in the print campaign. The new site was not only visually appealing, it provided better search engine optimization and user experience.
